thanksgiving greetings, part 2

i hope everyone had a blessed thanksgiving...
i would like to share one of my favorite psalms with you today~
[psalms-100.png]

this blog {a great full day} has inspired me so much today that i hope she finds it flattering that i, too, would like to take her idea and tell you about things that i am thankful for this year--26 letters of the alphabet, 26 days of thankfulness.  this blogger, of course, was way more aware of thanksgiving falling on november 26 this year that she began this project on november 1 and neatly 'tied it up' on thanksgiving day.  oh well...it's never a 'bad' time to be thankful, right? so check back often and please let me know what you are thankful for too!

thanksgiving greetings, part 1

just a quick thanksgiving greeting to all my friends and family...
i'm loving this precious card~

...and this wonderful classic

happy turkey day...i count you all among my greatest blessings!!

finally, halloween, part 2

ok--so i know i promised here to show the pictures of my kids' cute costumes from this year's gump day parade {aka halloween}, but i am just now getting around to finding the pictures on MDE's camera.  this year MDE and her friends were ryan, troy, sharpay, and gabriella from high school musical 3--the graduation!  i thought they did an awesome job decorating those white sashes i somehow managed to sew and the graduation caps with authentic 2008 tassels--so fun!

now MTSC and his friends worked very hard on their costume, too.

if you can't tell...they are sears driving school {instructor & student driver} and a stop sign.  they had a whole 'routine' worked out where MTSC was the driver and would swerve and finally hit and knock down the stop sign--very silly.
i must also share a couple of other halloween pictures that i hope you enjoy...the first is the daughter of MFK--

is she not the cutest?
these other pics are some of my favorites from halloweens past--try to guess what my kids {and sometimes their friends} were...some are obvious, some are not.  the answers will be at the end!

before i 'reveal' the costume names...alas, i must tell you that for some reason i cannot find my 2002 october pictures in my highly {cough} organized photos.  this saddens me because my favorite costume worn by MTSC was that year--an armadillo.  now this isn't something you can buy anywhere but my wonderful mother was talented enough to fulfill his request.  it was awesome.
did you figure out the following?...
some may be out of order because of my lack of computer knowledge!
dwight's army of champions complete with dunder mifflin paper
santa's favorite reindeer
gary the snail from spongebob
motorcycler
 university of kansas jayhawk
butterfly
robin
tree hugger
artist
firewall/virus/computer {they won a prize}
puppies in a box/little girl {they, too won a prize}
youtube.com/facebook.com
rock/scissors/paper
and last, but certainly not explainable without a long story...queso bob {note the sombrero made of cheese}
!!!!!

google

one of my favorite widgets that i keep on my dashboard is the daily google logo.  this may sound strange until you hear the whole story...most days it is just the regular logo.  but on a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary of something/someone famous, they configure the g-o-o-g-l-e into a representation of this notable day.  well, it seems several days last week were memorable--and not only for google, but especially for me.
november 4
20th anniversary of the wallace & gromit characters

november 5
40th anniversary of sesame street
{they actually did several, but these were my favorite}

mud run

so today was the mud run...
just what is the mud run, you ask?
well..let me let the website explain it--
Mud Run is a combination of regular citizens, Civil Servants, companies, teams, colleges and some military personnel competing together through a series of boot camp styled obstacles that have been surrounded by (or consist entirely of) mud. The race is 10K and it is unique to the state of Texas.
MHD and 4 of our friends competed as a Co-Ed team--

this is taken before the race
{note the obstacle on the right...yikes}

this is the team going over that obstacle...after about an hour of running and
completing obstacles

...and crossing the finish line!

this picture does not even begin to show the nasty muddiness that they were.  and they did awesome--placed 5th in the first half of co-ed teams!!

...and how truly fast he has grown up!

halloween, 1972

before i show the pictures of my kids' wonderful costumes they made this year for halloween/gump day, i thought i would share what the 'cool kids' were wearing in '72...{isn't it amazing that i only have two halloween pics of myself and MHD and they are both from 1972?}
anyway, i hope you enjoy--

su lin

well, seeing how the only pictures of pandas that i have been posting lately have been of the baby and mama bai yun at the san diego zoo, i thought that i would share a few of another panda that lives in san diego that i saw online the other day--

i'm not sure what this 'treat' exactly is, but she seems to really like it!
Su Lin: A Little Bit of Something Very Cute

Su Lin is the third panda to be born at the San Diego Zoo. Her parents are Bai Yun and Gao Gao. Following Chinese tradition, she was given her name at 100 days of age.

it is now almost time for the zoo to choose a name for bai yun's newest cub and for those who are interested you can participate in the choice--vote here!
